JOINT COMMUNIQUE on the results of the 23rd meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the SCO Member States
The heads of delegations, confirming the commitment of the SCO member states to cooperation on climate change and overcoming its negative consequences through the exchange of experience and the study of best practices, instructed the relevant ministries and departments to accelerate the establishment of the Special Working Group on Climate Change, including the adoption of an appropriate Provision. They noted the proposals on the development of a draft agreement between the governments of the SCO member states on cooperation in the field of climate change, as well as on the creation of the SCO Database on Innovative Environmental Technologies.

Information on the planned amount of reduction (prevention) of greenhouse gas emissions and/or increase in their absorption as a result of the implementation of the climate project: 2 547 218.
Project essence: reduction of natural gas consumption at HFCs due to optimization of the wastewater disposal scheme at the Yurkharovsky NGCM of NOVATEK-YURKHAROVNEFTEGAZ LLC, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
Current status of the climate project: implementation.
JSC RUSAL, through the mediation of Gazprombank, sold carbon units to Equity International
JSC RUSAL, through the mediation of JSC GPB (Gazprombank), sold carbon units issued as a result of the implementation of the climate project 04-2023-00000012 to Equity International, a company from the UAE. Information on the number of carbon units and their cost is not disclosed by the parties.
Carbon footprint compensation of the XV International Economic Forum “RUSSIA – THE ISLAMIC WORLD: KAZANFORUM”
PJSC TATNEFT named after V.D. Shashin offset 4,615 carbon units from the climate project 92-2023-00000003 in order to reduce the carbon footprint of another person — the Investment Development Agency of the Republic of Tatarstan to compensate for the carbon footprint of the XV International Economic Forum “RUSSIA – THE ISLAMIC WORLD: KAZANFORUM (May 14-19, 2024).
