In the territory of the Russian Federation, projects are implemented according to the following mechanisms:

September 2024 – Rusal JSC, through the Thread of Nature platform retired 14 carbon units on behalf of the Roscongress Foundation to compensate for the carbon footprint of the BRICS Climate Agenda in Modern Conditions Forum, which was held on August 29-30 in Moscow as part of the BRICS High-level Dialogue on Climate Change September 2024 – Rusal JSC, through the Thread of Nature platform, transferred carbon units (no data on the amount) to the Roscongress Foundation to compensate for the carbon footprint of the Eastern Economic Forum-2024 October 2024 – JSC RUSAL, through the mediation of JSC GPB (Gazprombank), sold carbon units to Equity International, a company from the UAE. Information on the number of carbon units and their cost is not disclosed by the parties. November 2024 – JSC RUSAL sold carbon units to Carbon Zero LLC to offset the carbon footprint of one of their customers. Information on the number of carbon units and their cost is not disclosed by the parties. November 2024 – Carbon Zero LLC offset 276 carbon units in order to reduce the carbon footprint of another person — PJSC Credit Bank of Moscow. January 2025 – PJSC “RUSAL” sold carbon units to LLC “BIEMTEK” to reduce the latter’s carbon footprint. The price was 1,200 rubles per unit, while the quantity was not disclosed by the parties. February 2025 – BIEMTEK LLC offset 25 carbon units in order to reduce the carbon footprint. June 2025 – Rusal sold carbon units to a participant of the Sakhalin Experiment. The number of units, the price, and the buyer’s identity were not disclosed.

Climate projects are implemented in accordance with national legislation and methodologies. The utilization of carbon units is carried out within the framework of the national Registry. The ultimate goal of using carbon units is to offset the carbon footprint of services or products, as well as to meet the emission quota established by the government.

June 2024 PJSC Sibur-Holding retired 5,304 carbon units for voluntary compensation of the carbon footprint of SPIEF-2024

July 2024. SIBUR supplied polypropylene to Turkish companies Metal Sentetik and Abdiogulları and transferred carbon units to compensate its carbon footprint (the quantity of carbon units remains unspecified)

November 2024 PJSC Sibur will offset 31,012 carbon units in order to reduce the carbon footprint of another person — the Ugra Entrepreneurship Support Fund “My Business”.

April 2025 – SIBUR-PETF retired carbon units, offsetting its direct and indirect energy-related greenhouse gas emissions (Scopes 1 and 2) in 2024. The exact number of retired carbon units has not been disclosed. It is reported that the company’s total greenhouse gas emissions for the year amounted to 22.2 thousand tons of CO₂-equivalent, two-thirds of which were offset with carbon units.

April 2025 – SIBUR supplied polypropylene with a partially extinguished carbon footprint of more than 750 tons to four Chinese companies.

May 2025 — SIBUR retired 30 carbon units to offset the carbon footprint of the 2024/25 RPL season final match.

Climate projects are implemented according to voluntary carbon standards using methodologies developed by them. The utilization of carbon units is carried out in the registries of these standards. The ultimate goal of using carbon units depends on the standard.

Experiment to limit greenhouse gas emissions in the Sakhalin region
